Today I would like to share with my readers a list of sites where you can store your images… just in case you do not want to keep them on your own web space or you are unable to share them through custom web space.

Updated

http://photobucket.com/
Nice Flickr Alternative. Lots of possibilities even if you don’t want to pay for it (free account). A little more stable and secure than Zooomr. Not the feeling of a big beta software.

http://www.zooomr.com/
Flickr clone. Lots of community features that I do not need but very interesting overall functionality. Does not enforce limits for free accounts on up- or downloads.

http://www.shutterfly.com/
Interesting simple. Images must not be larger than 10MB.

http://www.smugmug.com/
Expensive thing with normal features. New and may become more popular.

http://www.webshots.com/
Normal features. Some limitations.

The Big Guys

http://flickr.com
some severe limits to free accounts: Now you can only upload 100MB/month.

http://picasa.google.com/
automatically resizes your pictures and it is hard to link to the original image file. Limitation for free accounts to store 1GB of images.

http://www.fotki.com/
free unlimited hosting. But bandwidth restriction for each month. Pretty similar to flikr.

http://photobucket.com/
free unlimited hosting. Limitations are not clear prior to login. Lots of extra features (videos, slideshows, facebook integration etc.)

http://www.tabblo.com
by hp. Site focuses on creating 1 paged tabloid overviews of your images. Unclear limitations.

http://www.xdrive.com/
AOL Xdrive. File library with loads of interesting features and 5GB of storage space. Interesting but complex photo features.

Smaller Providers

http://imageshack.us
absolutely no limitations. But images are usually visible to anyone that browses imageshack. Site is very slow and sometimes custom albums are not loading correctly.

http://www.imgbolt.com/
hazzle free image hosting. Limitations in image sizes and album keeping. Photos are visible to everyone.

http://www.imagebam.com/
smaller provider. Hazzle free. Limited to 3MB file size only. Uncertain reliability.

http://www.freeimagehost.eu/
seems like a clone of imagebam.com. Also limited to 3MB files. Uncertain reliability.

http://www.filenanny.com/
lots of organizing features. Limited to a 500MB storage space for all your files.

http://www.hotlinkfiles.com/
file storage service: 1GB of space (hotlinking allowed), 8000MB montly bandwidth limit, 50MB maximum file size (single).

http://fileave.com/
file storage service: small small small 50 / 150 MB storage space.

http://www.mynetimages.com/
maximum image size: 512 kB. Beta stage.

http://imagecabin.com/
very nice. unlimited. Looks stable. File size limit (25mb).

http://www.picoodle.com/
small. no limitations except file upload size.

This was my selection. An ever growing pile of storage services is emerging. The open directory page (as follows) gives a good overview of the current image hosting service providers:
