Google Calendar Now Supports Syncing with iCal and Mozilla Sunbird December 3, 2008

Google just officially released the CalDAV support of Google Calendar. With this open protocol you can now sync your Google Calendar locally.

The Google Support document describes what’s to be considered and how to set it up:

The support article contains links to set-up tools which let you easily chose which calendars to sync locally.
