My secondary phone right now is a Google Nexus 4 (LG MAKO). I basically want to tinker around with the latest version of Android and I am taking it abroad when I need to be flexible and be able to swap SIMs.

On the device I am an avid Super SU user. Unfortunately after flashing Android 4.3 (and re-rooting of course) the Super SU binary update does not succeed (no progress shown for ~ 30mins). I looked around and found a couple of resources rg. that issue:

In the first link the following easy guide is mentioned:

  • first try update binary using Super SU for few times, if still installation failed try to download old superuser through play store.
  • Disable superuser for Super SU in settings>Superuser
  • In old superuser, go to info and then tap the “tap to check updates” and update the binary.
  • Then, enable superuser in Super SU and voilaa!!… try it..
